The International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2025, will gather all the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA- TCP) as participants and exhibitors in a pavilion of Havana’s San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress. The high-level meeting, essential to “promote and strengthen the economic sector in the region,” will take place on Saturday, May 3, as announced by the regional organization on its X account.
In the sixth meeting of ministers and high authorities of tourism of that organization, which took place in the context of the 17th International Tourism Fair of Venezuela 2024, more than 20 agreements were signed for the benefit of the members of the multilateral organization and the multi-destination product was approached from all points of view. The topic will be discussed again at the meeting of ministers planned for FITCUBA 2025 with the interest of establishing agreements that will favor the growth of national economies and cultural exchange.
At the last meeting, memorandums of understanding were signed between Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba for training and capacity building in the development of tourist infrastructure, with a view to increasing tourist arrivals in the region and improving the quality of services.
ALBA-TCP promotes the integration of Latin American and Caribbean countries
The then Executive Secretary of ALBA- TCP, Jorge Arreaza, pointed out that, “Perhaps in any other organization for integration or policy coordination, tourism could be seen as a strategy to… seek profit; but in our alliance… tourism represents an encounter between our peoples, an opportunity to get to know each other, to learn about our different cultures… this makes tourism much more than an economic activity.”
Meanwhile, the President of the ALBA Bank, Raúl Li Causi, suggested the creation of a specific tourism brand, with the aim of showing and positioning the diversity and richness of Latin America.
ALBA-TCP promotes the integration of Latin American and Caribbean countries and is based on solidarity, complementarity and cooperation for the economic development of the area.
