In the 2025 edition of the World Travel Awards, Varadero has been selected among the “Best Beaches in the World,” reaffirming its position as the most emblematic sun and beach destination in the Caribbean archipelago. Playa Pilar, located in Cayo Guillermo, has been distinguished for its natural beauty and conservation. This Caribbean jewel continues to attract travelers from all over the world for the quality of its crystal-clear waters and white sands.
In the hotel industry, the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, in Holguín, received the Luxury Lifestyle Awards prize for “Best Luxury Family Beach Resort in Cuba.” Located in the seaside resort of Guardalavaca, it offers an exclusive service and a combination of nature and high-level technology that stands out among those who prefer sun and beach options.
Several Meliá hotels have also been nominated in different categories of the World Travel Awards, including Paradisus Varadero and Paradisus Princesa del Mar, which are competing for the title of “Cuba’s Leading Resort.” These facilities stand out for their luxury offers, gourmet cuisine and wellness programs.
Cuba, best of the best as a cultural destination
Cuba has also been recognized in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best as a cultural destination. This time it distinguishes itself among the most popular destinations in the Caribbean in second place and in 25th position worldwide in the category of best cultural destinations. This recognition highlights the country’s rich history and cultural life, with iconic destinations such as Havana and Trinidad, and a wide range of institutions and spaces, as well as routes, programs and events that captivate travelers from all over the world.
These awards reflect Cuba’s commitment to tourism excellence and its ability to remain a benchmark destination in the Caribbean and the world, despite the complex context in which the sector operates. With voting open until June 22, the Caribbean nation awaits new results.
